Burj el-Shemali

Burj el-Shemali is a Palestinian refugee camp located 3 km east of the city of Tyre, Lebanon. According to the United Nations Refugee and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) the camp has 19,074 registered refugees.[1] The camp was established temporarily in 1948 after the Arab-Israeli conflict, but it is still in existence today. Humanitarian assistance has been provided by UNRWA to the camp residents since 1955.[2]
